The Guru
What appears to be a memory,
a sign of the past,
awakens as You; now the memory is new.
Will not the rose bush bud and blossom
with a new look to rejoice?
As soon as a child is delivered from the womb, it is given milk,
and showered with affection,
as befits a mother.
Isn't everything new, alive, universally-experienced?
Is not birth itself new, always the driving force of life?
When You, the Guru, appeared in the heart and gave me lessons;
what I didn't know until then, awakened into knowledge.
Isn't Guru in chaitanya bhava always awake
and shining like this?
