Weekly Mindfulness & Meditation Groups: Testimonial

Community Meditations

Community Meditations are live, guided online mindfulness meditation sessions offered in a warm and welcoming group setting. Each session includes guided meditation and gentle teaching, supporting participants in developing steadiness, awareness, and compassion through regular shared practice. These groups are open to all experience levels, and no prior meditation experience is required.

These sessions are designed to support ongoing mindfulness practice rather than quick results. Practicing together in community helps cultivate continuity, encouragement, and a sense of connection that can support daily life over time. For a comprehensive overview of the path we walk together, see our foundational Mindfulness Meditation Guide.

The community meditation groups are designed to be flexible and accessible. Each meditation group series includes 15 live, drop-in sessions held on weekdays (Monday through Friday) over three consecutive weeks, and participants are welcome to attend as often as their schedule allows. Registration is open throughout the series.

Sessions are held online via Zoom at 7:30 AM Pacific Time and include access to session recordings, with permanent access provided to series registrants. Participants join these online meditation groups from the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, and recordings support flexible participation if live attendance is not always possible. The groups are offered on a donation (dāna) basis, with a suggested offering of $50 for the full series. Any amount offered with a free and open heart is gratefully accepted.

The Community Meditations are guided by Gayathri Narayanan, founder of Myndtree and a certified mindfulness meditation teacher, whose approach emphasizes steady practice, clarity, and kindness in shared practice.

Press + or - to expand or hide details below.

1. Do I need meditation experience to join Myndtree’s community meditation groups? No meditation experience is required. These guided community meditation sessions welcome complete beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Gayathri provides clear instruction throughout, making mindfulness meditation accessible to everyone. The drop-in format allows you to begin whenever you’re ready, with no prior knowledge needed.

2. How do online meditation groups work, and what do I need to participate? Each Myndtree series has 15 sessions over three weeks. In each session, the online meditation group meets live via Zoom. You’ll need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access and the free Zoom app. Each session includes short teaching, guided meditation, and optional sharing by participants. Sessions are recorded so you can revisit them anytime. Practicing meditation with a group can deepen focus and consistency.

3. Are Myndtree’s meditation practices secular and inclusive of all backgrounds? Yes. Myndtree’s meditation practices are secular and welcoming to people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and spiritual orientations. While drawing on Buddhist mindfulness teachings, practices are offered in a universal, non-religious framework. The community includes people with established religious traditions, those exploring spirituality, and those seeking practical tools for stress reduction. Everyone is welcome.

4. How much does it cost to join community meditation sessions? Community meditation sessions are offered on a donation (dāna) basis. The suggested donation for a 15-session series is $50, though any amount offered with an open heart is accepted. Financial circumstances should not prevent access to mindfulness practice. Your participation in the community is what is most important.

5. Can I still benefit from meditation groups if I can’t attend the live Zoom sessions? Yes. Registered participants receive permanent access to session recordings and can practice anytime. Many working parents and busy professionals use recordings to maintain a consistent meditation practice for managing stress and anxiety. You can participate at your own pace while remaining part of the Myndtree meditation community.

Gayathri’s mindfulness sessions are an expression of her connectedness to the human experience. I am there, every session, to bask in the sense of unity she brings with every breath and every word.

I’ve read so many persuasive articles about the benefits of mindfulness, but needed the right environment in which to get started. Gayathri’s sessions are accessible, inclusive, and welcoming. Our group includes rookies (like me), and others whose practices are more established. Gayathri reaches everyone. At the close of class we disperse; each of us feeling calmer, clearer, and more centered.

Gayathri embodies and exudes the teachings of mindfulness. She's made it her life path and I really feel the depth of her practice in how she transmits the information to anyone who is in her sessions. I feel very lucky to be part of the classes she teaches.  She comes from a place of kindness and compassion with full awareness of her desire to share how mindfulness can impact our lives. Thank you for being an amazing resource for our community.

I just wanted to thank you for the daily meditations. They are life changing!

Right now I’m going through a difficult divorce, I am working full time, and I have my children full time. I cannot attend the meditations in person, I’m a teacher, and I  have to get to work early. But the recordings are such a gift.  Every morning, the first thing I do is meditate with the recording from the group’s previous day.

I’ve developed a sense of inner peace, and strength, and a mindful presence throughout my day, that before I could only grab onto in fleeting moments.

I’m navigating a tumultuous year of life with a warm steady inner current. It’s a tremendous gift to me, and in turn to my children. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
